Measuring Guide – Choosing the Right Size Carpet for Your Event
Choosing the Right Size Carpet for Your Event
When ordering a custom carpet or aisle runner, it’s important to understand width and length so your carpet fits perfectly in your venue.
Width
Refers to how wide the carpet is from one edge to the other. For runners, this determines how much of the walkway is covered. Our most popular widths are:
1.00m – great for narrow walkways or intimate spaces
1.20m – our most common size for weddings and small events
1.50m – offers a more generous, luxurious look
1.80m – perfect for a grand entrance or wide aisles
Length
Refers to how far the carpet runs from start to finish along the walkway. This will depend on your venue’s layout and the exact path you want to cover. Common lengths include:
5m – ideal for short aisles or entranceways
8m – suits most medium-sized venues
10m – popular for larger ceremonies and events
12m – great for long, elegant walkways
15m – perfect for expansive spaces or outdoor events
We can produce any width or length to the nearest centimetre, so your carpet will always be a precise fit for your space.
Allowance and Fit
We recommend allowing at least 10–15cm (4–6 inches) of clearance on each side if you want the carpet to fit neatly within a space. For maximum impact, you can order the full walkway width so the carpet edge sits close to the walls or seating.
